    2. Teacher initiative grants to bring special projects to classrooms.

INC Meeting March 2001 2.

Since November of 2000 $30,000 has been raised for grants for teachers.

A discussion on class size reduction and how that impacts the current teacher shortage followed.

Reports

A crime/gang awareness workshop for District 4 was scheduled for March 31 at the St. Joseph AME Church.

An invitation to a solid waste open house on March 30 at the Camden Avenue facility was issued to all.

Pat Bocchino of CAUSE reported on the Oak Creek Village development plan. The 678-acre development would have considerable impact on schools. Also it was felt that Lic Creek, which runs through the center of the development would be adversely affected because the technique of mass grading was going to be employed. The traffic impact would also be quite substantial.

Pat made a motion that INC take a position of: supporting the report of the zoning committee against development because we're concerned about the impacts on the community based on INC's goal of looking for the best process for accomplishing change and assessing it's effects within the community.

Mike noted that a synopsis of the Street Impact Fee is now available.

Community Life Court: Lynwood Best said that 8 cases were presented today. Five will go to trial and 2 cases concluded with fines and probation.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:00PM.
