Administration

Stan Hoffman called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm.

The meeting time had been moved up from 7:00 to 6:00 on short notice, to permit INC members to attend the Herald-Sun Candidates' Forum at 7:00. In addition, a heavy rainstorm caused power outages and perhaps deterred some members from attending. As a consequence the meeting lacked the quorum necessary to transact what was to have been the main business of the meeting - election of new officers. The election was postponed until the October meeting.

New Business

Goals for 2000: Stan Hoffman called for suggestions for INC goals for the coming year.

    · Frank Hyman urged that INC play a more constructive role in local government by adopting positions on the city, county and state budgets by the end of the calendar year - in time to influence budget decisions. He suggested canvassing the neighborhood associations for what they want in the budget, and holding a press conference to pull together their requests.

    · Harry Dawley asked if INC might take a position on city/county merger.

    · John Dagenhart urged that INC call on neighborhood leaders, ask them what they want, and persuade them to come to INC.

Closing

The meeting was adjourned at 6:45.
